“We can only wait until Gu Ru sends the rest of the script, then we’ll know.” Xi Mo twisted open a bottle of water and handed it to Ruan Yesheng.

Ruan Yesheng took it, drank a sip, and said, “Looking at Director Gu’s way, she probably still won’t send the whole script at once. She might divide it into several parts. We still have to wait.”

“Let her do as she likes. Not surprising.” Xi Mo was very clear-headed, saying, “No matter what emotional tone this movie finally has, as long as Gu Ru chose to film it, then she must be sure it can pass review. Now the actors, funding, crew arrangements, and so on are almost all set. Gu Ru won’t joke about these. What we need to do is understand the script carefully and wait to join the crew later.”

Ruan Yesheng nodded. Anyway, she trusted Director Gu.

But she was really curious why Director Gu would set a scene where the two female leads feed cherries with their mouths. She wanted to go get her phone and see how that scene was written in the script.

“You’re not running anymore?” Xi Mo saw her about to leave and immediately asked.

Ruan Yesheng said, “Not anymore.”

Right now she only wanted to see the cherry-feeding part. It would be best to make a cup of hot tea and curl up on the sofa to enjoy it slowly.

She didn’t even know if in the character setup it was her character feeding Xi Mo’s character, or Xi Mo feeding her.

She hadn’t even seen it yet, but just thinking about it made her blush and her heart beat faster.

Xi Mo didn’t know Ruan Yesheng’s anxious thoughts at this moment. She thought she was just too lazy to run and frowned, saying, “You ran only for this short while and don’t want to run anymore? That day when we switched back, I carried you using your body to the iron gate to meet up. I was exhausted from running. At that time I told you, after switching back you need to work out more. Did you hear me?”

“I heard.” Ruan Yesheng laughed.

Even though she was groggy at the time, she heard everything Xi Mo said to her.

To keep her awake, Xi Mo talked a lot on the way. But it was urgent, and Xi Mo didn’t even know what to say, so most of it was just whatever came to mind.

Even so, Ruan Yesheng still wanted to hear more.

Those words were like the only light she saw before falling into the dark. That light held on to her last breath. Back then, she thought she had to hang on. She had to get closer to her light.

Xi Mo said, "Then shouldn’t you work out more?"

"My strength’s pretty good already, okay?" Ruan Yesheng sounded a little annoyed. "You just weren’t used to my body yet. If I carried you myself, I wouldn’t have been that tired."

"You sure have a lot of excuses."

Ruan Yesheng got playful and forgot about the script for now. She leaned close to Xi Mo, smiling with her eyes squinted, and reached out her hand. "If you don’t believe me, let me carry you now and walk a few laps. I won’t even be out of breath."

Xi Mo didn’t speak. She just stared at her quietly.

Ruan Yesheng’s hand froze in midair. Suddenly she felt a bit nervous.

Maybe staying at Xi Mo’s house made her feel like they were closer. She started speaking and acting more freely, even showing a bit of coquettishness.

She didn’t know if that was okay. She was torn inside, hoping for more chances to be close to Xi Mo, yet scared she might dislike her way of getting close.

She looked at Xi Mo but couldn’t read anything from her face. For a moment, she didn’t know whether to step forward or back.

But Xi Mo took a few steps forward, walked into the range of her arms—stepped into her space.

Ruan Yesheng’s hand touched the sweat on Xi Mo’s arm. She froze completely.

"Why aren’t you moving?" Xi Mo looked at her. "Didn’t you say you’d walk a few laps?"

Only then did Ruan Yesheng snap out of it. The joy in her heart almost overflowed, rising with heat, ready to spill out through her skin.

Xi Mo actually agreed.

Ruan Yesheng steadied her breath, bent down slightly—one hand carefully supported Xi Mo’s legs, the other wrapped around her back, and lifted her up by the waist.

Back when she had the allergic reaction to seafood, it was only Xi Mo’s body being carried by Ruan Yesheng’s. Their roles had been completely reversed then. Xi Mo didn’t feel what it was like to be held.

Now she was back in her own body, and she felt Ruan Yesheng’s strength holding her steady. Her face suddenly tensed up.

This was the first time someone had held her like this. She couldn’t tell what the feeling was.

It was a little unfamiliar.

More than that, it was a strange, indescribable ticklish itch right at the tip of her heart.

Xi Mo didn’t even know where to place her hands. She hesitated for a while, then just folded her arms across her chest, looking slightly awkward.

"Then I’m going to start walking, okay?" Ruan Yesheng lowered her head and glanced at Xi Mo.

Xi Mo had just finished running. Her body was burning hot, and she wore thin workout clothes. That heat passed through the fabric, searing Ruan Yesheng’s palms, burning into her heart. But she could only force herself to keep smiling.

"Mm." Xi Mo lifted her eyes and looked at her from within her arms. "Let’s see how long you can walk."

Ruan Yesheng held back the fire inside her. Carrying Xi Mo, she started walking along the edge of the gym.

"Well? Am I holding you steady?" To ease her nerves, Ruan Yesheng kept a casual tone while walking and talking: "When I used to learn dance from my teacher, she always told us that a dancer needs strength. With strength as a base, your dance has tension, it can move people. But that strength isn’t brute force. It’s controlled power from within. If there’s no strength, the dance will just look limp. It loses meaning."

"So you think you’re strong?" Xi Mo looked at the sweat glistening on the tip of her nose and asked.

"Of course." Ruan Yesheng smiled. "Back then when we learned dancing, our teacher used me as the standard. She always told everyone to look at the way I showed strength through my moves. I was the lead dancer every time."

Her smile was full of confidence. It was dazzling.

Xi Mo stared at her, knowing Ruan Yesheng deserved that kind of confidence.

Maybe she was a little moved. Xi Mo raised her hand and, almost without thinking, reached up and rested it on Ruan Yesheng’s bare arm.

At first she had been curled up stiffly in Ruan Yesheng’s arms, not touching her. But once she placed her hand there, her palm pressed right onto the skin of Ruan Yesheng’s arm, and she was caught off guard.

Ruan Yesheng’s body went soft. Her arm even started shaking a bit.

No matter how strong she was, facing this kind of Xi Mo, Ruan Yesheng couldn’t handle it at all. Her heart trembled, her body shivered, and she nearly stumbled. But in that split second, she quickly steadied herself and hurried to put Xi Mo down before she could fall.

Xi Mo slipped out of Ruan Yesheng’s arms and stood up, looking at her with a strange expression. She said, “You didn’t even make it half a lap, and you already can’t carry me?”

Ruan Yesheng: “…”

Xi Mo added, “You said it was because I wasn’t used to your body last time, that’s why it was so tiring to carry you. But now that you’re the one doing it, it still turned out the same. Looks like it was all just excuses.”

Ruan Yesheng’s heart beat faster, but she argued back smoothly, step by step: “Last time we had to walk all the way from the garden to the iron gate. That’s far. Anyone would feel exhausted. If things were reversed and you carried me with your own body, you’d also be tired as hell, okay?”

Xi Mo gave her a sideways glance. “Is that so?”

“Of course.” Ruan Yesheng’s eyes gleamed with mischief. “Then you carry me and try it out.”

Xi Mo: “…”

Ruan Yesheng thought she wouldn’t do it. She just wanted to tease her.

But who knew Xi Mo would stare at her for a moment with a serious look, then say in a low voice, “Alright, I’ll try.”

Ruan Yesheng: “…”

Xi Mo stepped in front of her and said, “Stand still.”

Ruan Yesheng nearly forgot how to breathe in that moment—how could she dare to move?

Xi Mo bent down, held her body, and picked her up in a full-on princess carry. Her goal was clear: to prove how many laps she could walk while carrying her. So she didn’t hesitate at all and started walking with Ruan Yesheng in her arms.

Both of them were sweating, and their sportswear left more skin exposed than regular clothes. Their bare arms, sticky with sweat, pressed closely together with nothing between them.

Ruan Yesheng curled up in Xi Mo’s arms, raised her hands, and wrapped her arms around Xi Mo’s neck. Her eyes shimmered faintly as she looked at her.

With each step, Xi Mo’s delicate collarbones rose and fell with her breath, and sweat seemed to pool in that little dip at the base of her throat, swaying, almost falling but not quite.

Ruan Yesheng kept staring and gently bit her lip.

Xi Mo lowered her eyes too, letting her gaze sweep across Ruan Yesheng.

Ruan Yesheng was wearing a running tank top, and the way her skin changed under the sweat was even more visible. Xi Mo could clearly see beads of sweat rolling along the lines of her body, sliding downward, her bellybutton was damp, too.

Ruan Yesheng’s breath got a little shaky. She said, “You’ve walked this long and still holding steady. I guess your workouts really paid off.”

Xi Mo glanced at her. “You thought the gym here was just for decoration?”

She held the small of Ruan Yesheng’s back. Just below that was her soft waist. Xi Mo tightened her grip, lifting her up a bit. Her hands naturally slid downward as she walked a few more quiet, steady steps.

Xi Mo carried Ruan Yesheng around the gym twice before putting her down and said, “I walked two laps holding you. Am I stronger than you?”

Ruan Yesheng’s heart was pounding. She didn’t want to leave Xi Mo’s arms, but she still smiled and said, “What’s there to compare?”

It made sense for female celebrities to compete over who ate less. But who was stronger? She’d never heard of that.

Xi Mo didn’t reply. She just asked, “Still running?”

“Are you some kind of running maniac? Don’t you get tired?” Ruan Yesheng found her stubbornness more and more funny. She said, “It’s already late. Time for breakfast. Come on, I’ll make you something.”

Xi Mo thought for a second and made a sound in agreement.

She handed Ruan Yesheng a towel to wipe her sweat. They tidied up, each went back to their rooms to shower and change, then came down to the first floor.

Ruan Yesheng made two sandwiches, added a vegetable salad, and poured a glass of milk for each of them. She also cut a fresh, juicy orange in half, each of them got one half. They watched their diet carefully. The portions were small, but the variety was rich, trying to balance all the nutrients.

“It’s delicious,” Xi Mo said on her own before Ruan Yesheng even asked.

Ruan Yesheng couldn’t help smiling. “This stuff’s really basic. Doesn’t represent my cooking skills.”

Xi Mo said, “Alright. I’ll see what you make for lunch then.”

After breakfast, Ruan Yesheng quickly sat on the couch, hugged a pillow, and opened the script Gu Ru sent her on her phone. She didn’t look at anything else, just flipped through fast, going straight to the cherry-feeding scene.

When she found that part, she quickly read it carefully.

And once she did, it was something else.

The more she read, the tighter she hugged the pillow. If the pillow could breathe, it would’ve been smothered.

She didn’t expect that in the cherry-feeding scene between her and Xi Mo, both of them would have their hands tied.

No wonder they had to feed with their mouths.

Gu Ru was really something.

And when filming, it was her who had to feed Xi Mo with her mouth.

Ruan Yesheng’s face turned red as she read. She wanted to flip to the next scene to see how the two female leads would progress, but found there was nothing more. Her heart was left hanging halfway, and she instantly felt disappointed. She even wanted to grab Gu Ru and make her update the script right now.
