Ji Lianxing’s cheeks were burning hot. The heat spread from her ears to her neck, and her skin flushed  pink.

She was really shy. So shy that the whole space felt like an oven. She had to go out and get some air.

“I’m going out for a bit...” Ji Lianxing turned and left, even faster than the first time at the hotel.

Jiang Shu looked at her back as she fled, and finally laughed.

As expected, if the Little Hedgehog could turn into a big tiger, then the sun would rise from the west.

For some reason, she knew Ji Lianxing would get shy, but she still liked to tease her. When she saw her blush, she felt a strange sense of achievement. As for why, Jiang Shu doesn't understand either.

Ji Lianxing ran out of the bathroom, panting. She unbuttoned the second button of her shirt and went to the balcony for air.

Jiang Shu was clearly doing it on purpose. Both of them knew it. There was no way they would bathe together.

But even knowing she did it on purpose, Ji Lianxing still blushed and her heart raced. She felt annoyed, always getting teased by Jiang Shu. She wondered when she could tease her back.

She leaned on the balcony rail and let the wind blow for a while. Her body temperature finally went down. But her throat was still dry. She went inside and poured a glass of water. After one glass of cold water, the restless heat faded.

She walked to the bathroom door and knocked lightly.

“Jiang Shushu, are you done? It’s almost ten minutes.”

“Done,” her voice came from inside. “But I didn’t bring pajamas.”

“Oh, wait a moment.”

She had to bring her pajamas. That meant she would see again. But well, they were both girls. What she had, she also had.

The thought was simple. But when she actually stood in front of Jiang Shu, the scene made her blood rush.

Above the gently rippling water revealed Jiang Shu’s cold and pretty face. In the light pink water, exuded a few wisps of wine aroma.

Jiang Shu’s cheeks were red from the steam. A few wet strands of hair stuck to her face and her eyes held a captivating light.

Ji Lianxing only glanced and felt drunk. Like a pound of strong liquor poured into her throat. Her throat burned, and her head felt dizzy.

She handed the pajamas to Jiang Shu and looked at the floor to ceiling window.

“Put them on first. I’m going out.”

Jiang Shu took the clothes. “Don’t go. Aren’t you going to take a bath?”

Ji Lianxing stood still. Her toes curled. Her whole body felt awkward.

She heard Jiang Shu step out of the water. A wave of heat came. From the corner of her eye, she seemed to see something, but not clearly.

“Your turn.” Jiang Shu stepped out of the tub and let the water drain. She pointed to the red wine bottle. “Pour some when you soak. It feels better.”

Ji Lianxing nodded fast. She saw Jiang Shu walk toward her. One hand went on her shoulder. Then the other hand followed and moved down. Her fingers stopped at Ji Lianxing’s shirt buttons.

Ji Lianxing blushed and pressed her hand down, and exclaimed, “I’ll do it myself!”

“Will you wash clean?” Jiang Shu tilted her head. In her bright eyes was a hooking light. While speaking, she lightly tapped the shallow hollow on Ji Lianxing’s chest.

“I will wash clean!”

Jiang Shu was only teasing. She did not really plan to help her bathe. She just wanted to see Ji Lianxing blush. After reaching her goal, she left quickly, leaving Ji Lianxing alone in the bathroom.

Bad woman. Jiang Shu is a real bad woman!

Ji Lianxing soaked in the tub for a long time, about one hour. She did as Jiang Shu said and poured some red wine in. But she felt no difference.

When she went upstairs, Jiang Shu was already asleep. She was a little drunk, so she fell asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow.

After a long day, Ji Lianxing was also tired. She lay down beside her quietly.

The night was silent. The room was quiet. Jiang Shu slept deeply, breathing steady. Ji Lianxing turned to her side and put one arm over her, holding her gently. She leaned on her shoulder and smelled her lightly. The faint rich scent spread, and she felt safe.

She remembered what Jiang Shu said tonight. When she carried her home, she said it was good like that. She also said it felt like dating.

Dating.

A word far away but tempting. Ji Lianxing had imagined many times that if Jiang Shu was her girlfriend, she would give her the best and most romantic things in the world.

A line of moonlight came through the curtain gap. It fell on the wooden floor and stretched to the edge of the bed.

Ji Lianxing held Jiang Shu and listened to her heartbeat. It was steady. She felt her own heartbeat was twice as fast.

Could the moonlight read minds?

If it could, could it give her one chance to boldly love Jiang Shu?

****

People say humans leave their fantasies in the night. When day comes, they must face real life.

That was Ji Lianxing. Her good wishes always seemed to stay in dreams.

The next morning, Saturday, light rain fell.

During the day, they stayed home. Jiang Shu worked in the study. Ji Lianxing watched a movie in the living room. After dinner, she went to the bar to sing as usual.

“I’m going now~” Ji Lianxing said while putting on her shoes.

Jiang Shu was on the phone. She turned and nodded at her. Their eyes met, and both smiled.

Jiang Shu blew her a kiss in the air and made a gesture, saying she would pick her up after singing. She was busy on the call.

Ji Lianxing nodded and blew a kiss back before closing the door.

She opened her umbrella and carried her electric guitar to the gate to take a taxi.

It was colder. She wore a black coat and wrapped a plaid scarf Jiang Shu took from the closet. The scarf still had Jiang Shu’s smell.

Ji Lianxing lowered her head and buried her chin in the scarf. She took a deep breath and couldn’t help smiling.

The taxi stopped and she got in. The destination was Pilot.

After thinking long, she had told the bar owner she would like to terminate her contract early. The owner agreed, so tonight was her last show.

Everything has a last time. When you know it is the last time, your heart feels different.

Although she initially went to Pilot to sing just to make money, she developed feelings for the place after singing for a few months. Ji Lianxing is a person who sees things through to the end; she likes to start things properly and finish them properly.

The car stopped at Pilot and noise hit her as soon as she got out.

She stepped inside. Familiar music played. Under dim lights, young people spent their youth without holding back. The lights were bright but could not light every corner. She avoided the crowd and went backstage to do makeup.

“Leaving?” the stylist asked while braiding her hair.

“Yes. Last time.”

He smiled. “That’s good.”

At nine, center stage, the girl with bright orange eyeshadow sat on a tall stool. Her long fingers rested on the guitar. She played the first chord.

“Hello everyone, I’m Bella. Thank you for your support these months. Tonight is my last time singing at Pilot. Aw usual, I’ll sing first . A classic old song, ‘The Wind Blows On’, for you.”

A burst of enthusiastic applause erupted from the audience. The most enthusiastic fan was a boy who was closest to the stage. He screamed and wiped away tears, his voice hoarse from shouting.

Ji Lianxing looked at him and suddenly realized he seemed to come every time. But she barely remembered his face.

She moved her eyes away and sang the first line.

“I tell you to go home early, you say you don’t want to go home...”

She rarely sang Cantonese songs. But her voice was good, so it didn't affect the quality.

“I saw you heart broken, how could I bear to leave you...”

Lights flashed. Light and shadow fell on her shoulders. But her slim body could not blend into the fake luxury.

It's as if she exists in another world, singing in another place, as if her soul has already lifted the roof and flown to the highest heavens, while her body sits there with her mouth opening and closing.

“I have brought you joy, and you have captivated me, you are in my heart, no need to ask who else I remember...”

On the second floor VIP, the man with sunglasses was unusually drawn by the song.

After the song ended, Zhang Mingyue cheered loudly with everyone. Fireworks lit on the screen again, more than before.

Zhang Mingyue tipped one hundred thousand. He took out his phone and snapped several photos.

Still not satisfied, in the noise, he smiled like he had a new idea.

When Jiang Shu got the message, she had just finished work. Zhang Mingyue sent five photos. The background was dark, but Ji Lianxing on stage was clear.

[What does this mean?]

Zhang Mingyue replied quickly, “President Jiang, doesn't this look like your little assistant?

Upon seeing the message, Jiang Shu grabbed her phone, took a coat, and went out.

Her heart was pounding, frantically so. She didn’t want to think too much. But she remembered the business card in Ji Lianxing’s pocket last night.

Why was his card there? Why send photos now?

She couldn’t understand. They didn't know each other. Yesterday was the first time Ji Lianxing saw him. Then what about the card?

She thought of asking. But there should be trust. Yet now that Zhang Mingyue sent these photos, it was hard not to be suspicious.

Stay calm, she told herself while walking to the parking lot. Things might not be as she thought.

She drove to Pilot.

When she arrived, Ji Lianxing was still singing. Fireworks still flashed. VIP Mr Zhang sent one hundred fireworks ten minutes ago and another one hundred five minutes ago. Two hundred thousand. The atmosphere was noticeably more exciting than before.

Jiang Shu stood in the dark and watched.

Ji Lianxing sang an English song. Zhang Mingyue cheered loudly. She did not respond to him. But she sang the songs he chose.

Did they know each other? Before yesterday? Was he not here for the first time? It didn’t look like it.

Why never mention him? Did she have secrets?

Jiang Shu didn't jump to conclusions. What eyes see may not be true. Maybe her mind made things up. She had to know the truth. So she stood there.

Zhang Mingyue kept choosing songs. Ji Lianxing kept singing. One long hour passed. She finished.

The crowd left. Ji Lianxing packed her guitar and went backstage.

It was late. The bar door was still noisy. Young people walked out in groups.

Jiang Shu sat in the convenience store across the street. Through the glass, she stared at the bar door.

She saw Ji Lianxing come out with her guitar, and Zhang Mingyue followed her out in the rain.

He patted her shoulder. She looked nervous and looked around.

Zhang Mingyue put his hands on Ji Lianxing's shoulders, but she quickly slapped them away.

Then he smiled, a dirty smile. He leaned close and said something in her ear.

Ji Lianxing’s face turned pale.

“Bye bye, baby~” his lips seemed to say.

Zhang Mingyue waved to her, his mouth opened and closed as if he were saying something to Ji Lianxing again, and then he braved the rain to get into a sports car…

Author's Note:

About why Xiao Ji didn't tell Jiang Shu about the tip, the reason is in Chapter 39.

The crematorium part was planned early. I will follow the outline. To avoid the outline going astray, I will read fewer comments. Because the crematorium section will basically be accompanied by dissenting comments, and reading too many of them will affect my mood and thus affect the direction of the story.

Are you ready? I’m about to ignite it.
