Chapter 28: A Little Moved

“Thanks for coming, come again next time.”

The shop assistant’s voice was sweet like honey, and Qin Mo politely gave a small smile, taking the paper bag with a golden logo from her hand.

Inside was a new set of clothes, which Qin Mo bought after asking Shen Jin’s size.

She carried the paper bag and walked fast past a row of shops, turned two corners, and found the slightly hidden bathroom.

Almost at the door, Qin Mo suddenly saw a blue figure flash by, followed by the sound of water rushing.

Clearly, the cleaning auntie was there to tidy up, and Qin Mo couldn’t help but think of the yellow sign Shen Jin secretly placed at the door, and their… unspeakable things inside.

Qin Mo couldn't help blushing from shame, and she lowered her head a little, feeling super uncomfortable as she quickly walked past the cleaning auntie.

Behind her, there seemed to be two faint looks, or maybe Qin Mo was just imagining it. Anyway, she took three steps at a time to the back stall, knocked, and handed the paper bag in.

“I… I’ll wait for you outside.”

She really has thin skin, and she didn’t want to keep remembering those embarrassing things she did in a moment of confusion. Qin Mo told Shen Jin and rushed out again.

The click-clack of high heels hitting the ground was very clear in the narrow hallway outside the bathroom. Qin Mo ran out in one breath, only slowing down after turning the corner.

Qin Mo’s heart beat wildly, and she gently clenched her fist to press her chest, her pretty thin eyebrows slowly frowning toward her forehead.

Qin Mo thought it was really too weird—why was she so ashamed?

Keeping a mistress was just for physical fun, so why did it feel all messed up now for Qin Mo?

It must be her overthinking, and Qin Mo pressed her forehead and forced herself to sweep those strange thoughts out of her mind.

While daydreaming and reflecting like this, Qin Mo unknowingly walked to the other end of the mall, stopping in front of a big floor-to-ceiling window.

Outside, dark clouds still pressed down, and the rain didn’t let up at all.

Bright white light flashed now and then through the thick gray-black clouds, with low rumbles of dark thunder.

Qin Mo’s chest suddenly felt stuffy, like a cotton ball was stuck in her lungs, swelling and keeping her breathing weak.

This feeling made Qin Mo very tired, as if someone poured lead water into her arms and legs, making her body heavy and weak.

The dark sky and the bright lights in the mall made a strong, opposite contrast. Just a glass wall apart, the clashing colors blurred and mixed, finally reflecting a shadow in the weave of light and dark.

That was another “Qin Mo” reflected on the glass.

Her facial features were almost the same as Qin Mo’s, but clearly a very strange “person.”

Qin Mo stared blankly at the dark sky outside, also locking eyes with the “her” on the glass.

“You’re so pitiful.”

Suddenly, the reflection on the glass seemed to speak.

“You were cheated on, kicked out with nothing, accused of being frigid… Do you dare to tell your Mom and Dad?”

The reflection’s mouth seemed to show a mocking smile, coldly staring at Qin Mo, that look was for a pitiful woman.

Qin Mo was stung by that pitiful, sympathetic gaze and stepped back on her own.

“Ms. Qin?”

Her back suddenly hit something soft, and Qin Mo jumped, freezing up.

For several seconds, Qin Mo, still dazed, slowly turned her head, tilting her chin up to look at the person behind her.

It was Shen Jin.

“Ms. Qin, what are you looking at?”

The scar on her face still felt a bit odd, but her mouth was slightly curved up now, her pretty thin lips forming a perfect arc.

A very warm and gentle smile, and Qin Mo suddenly felt a bit dazed.

Shen Jin leaned down a little, gazing at Qin Mo with focus, her dark and deep eyes clearly reflecting a single figure.

Completely, only Qin Mo’s reflection.

“Ms. Qin, are you watching the rain?”

Shen Jin exuded a gentle feel, she softly placed her hands on both sides of Qin Mo’s waist, using a protective pose to gently pull her into her arms.

“Don’t worry too much.”

Before Qin Mo could react, Shen Jin’s gentle words fell into her ears.

“When the rain gets lighter, we’ll go home.”

Her voice was calm like water, as if talking about something very normal that happens every day.

But “go home”?

Those two words should’ve been light, but now they felt like a thousand-pound rock, crashing onto Qin Mo’s heart.

That falling weight made Qin Mo want to tremble.

Home? Did she still have a home?

No, she hadn’t for a long time… since her heart turned to dead ashes, she’s been like a wanderer, with no home left.

Qin Mo gave a silent, bitter smile, her eyes drooping sadly, fragile like a homeless kitten.

A flash of heartache crossed Shen Jin’s eyes, and she tightened her arms around Qin Mo more.

After a moment, Shen Jin suddenly rested her chin on Qin Mo’s shoulder, softly singing in her ear:

“I’m a little moved by you,

But I’m so afraid to look into your eyes.

Just a little moved, a little hesitant,

I can’t believe my feelings are getting out of hand.

I’m a little moved by you,

Not knowing if the ending will be sorrow or joy.

Just a little moved, a little hesitant,

I’m afraid of losing after I love.”

With a slightly deep voice, Qin Mo finally realized that a nearby store was playing “A Little Moved,” and the music floated over as Shen Jin started to hum along.

It was a sentimental tune, and when Shen Jin hummed it with her voice, it turned out to be surprisingly moving and seductive. Qin Mo couldn’t help but be drawn in, gradually pulled out of the pit of tangled sorrow she’d been stuck in.

Her mood unexpectedly began to calm. Without thinking, Qin Mo leaned against Shen Jin, rubbing against her chin with a hint of dependence.

When the music faded and could no longer be heard, Shen Jin stopped humming, quietly holding the little kitten in her arms.

A gentle kiss woke Qin Mo with a jolt. She looked up on instinct, staring at Shen Jin.

Only then did Qin Mo notice—Shen Jin was really tall.

In the set of clothes Qin Mo had bought, there was a light trench coat. When Shen Jin wore it, she looked stunning, like a model in a showcase.

“Shen Jin,” Qin Mo shifted back a little, eyeing her kept woman “how… tall are you?”

Shen Jin stuck one hand into her coat pocket, and with the other, rubbed her nose.

“Without shoes, probably around 179.”

“...”

A woman is actually 179?

That number was shocking, but what Qin Mo was thinking was: I’m keeping a 179 cm tall professional mistress?

Never mind the outstanding height—just this… and she’s working as a professional mistress? Maybe people would believe it if she said she was a bodyguard.

A strange feeling suddenly rose in her chest, and Qin Mo didn’t know how to respond.

So, just like the first time she found out Shen Jin was a professional mistress, she gave an awkward little laugh.

“Th-that’s great… Mm.”

Shen Jin could tell what Qin Mo was thinking. In fact, most people made this exact face when they found out she was 179.

But when it was Qin Mo making it, it was especially cute.

“Ms. Qin,” Shen Jin curved her lips, holding back a laugh, “uh… looks like the rain’s stopped.”

“It stopped?”

Qin Mo, who was still struggling with how to keep the conversation going, quickly looked out the window.

Sure enough, the rain had lightened a lot—just a faint drizzle now.

“Th-then let’s hurry and go.”

Qin Mo silently thanked the heavens for this perfect chance to escape the awkwardness.

She gave a cough and rushed toward the down escalator, her steps flustered but trying to stay steady.

She looked just like a cat that had messed up but still tried to keep its cool.

This woman was just too cute.

Shen Jin smiled in delight and turned to follow her.

The two of them reached the mall entrance one after the other.

There was only one umbrella, and since Shen Jin was taller, naturally she had to be the one to hold it.

Qin Mo didn’t drive today, and since she wanted to get home quickly, she had no choice but to call a ride.

But clearly, a lot of people had the same idea at this hour—whether it was taxis or ride-hailing apps, everything was packed.

Seeing that the ride-hailing app on her phone was still stuck trying to assign a car, Qin Mo couldn’t help but feel annoyed.

Just as she was about to try again, she suddenly heard Shen Jin say, “I’ll get a ride. Ms. Qin, could you please hold the umbrella for a bit?”

Qin Mo wanted to say it was rush hour, but before she could speak, Shen Jin had already handed her the umbrella handle.

Shen Jin pulled out her phone, unlocked it, but instead of opening a ride-hailing app, she quietly opened her contacts.

After a while, she slipped the phone back into her coat pocket, turned, and smiled at Qin Mo as she took the umbrella back.

“You…,” Qin Mo was stunned, “got a car already?”

Shen Jin nodded, reaching out to gently rest her hand on Qin Mo’s waist.

“It’s just that traffic’s a bit heavy here. We’ll have to wait a while.”

“…”

That lucky? Just one call and she got a ride? Qin Mo couldn’t quite believe it.

But sure enough, twenty minutes later, a sleek silver car with flashing hazard lights slowly pulled up by the curb.

Before Qin Mo could react, Shen Jin glanced at her phone and said, “That’s our car.”

With that, she pulled Qin Mo along.

As they approached, the passenger-side window rolled down.

Behind the wheel, Old Zhang was gripping the steering wheel.

When he saw Shen Jin, his habit almost made him blurt out “President Shen.”

Shen Jin stepped slightly behind Qin Mo and, the moment she saw the shape of his mouth, shot him a sharp glare.

Startled, Old Zhang instantly remembered the message Shen Jin had sent him—clear instructions to act like a ride-hailing driver.

Everyone at Luanhuang was professional—even the driver could switch into acting mode anytime.

“Pre—pretty nasty weather today!”

He forcibly swallowed the “President” part of “President Shen,” and Old Zhang quickly put on a big smile and launched into his act:

“Uh… are you the passenger ending in 3129?”

Shen Jin played along smoothly, nodded, and opened the back door, inviting Qin Mo to get in.

Qin Mo glanced at Shen Jin with slight suspicion, then ducked into the car after a few seconds.

The leather seat felt soft and comfortable. As she ran her hand over the smooth surface, she recalled the car logo she’d seen on the front—

Lexus. From the look of it, a newly released executive luxury model.

Qin Mo quietly thought to herself, Shen Jin actually managed to get this kind of high-end ride-hailing car?

Even for a premium ride, this was a bit much, wasn’t it?
