Chapter 82: Original Version
'In the tropical rainforests of South America, there is a butterfly with transparent wings called the Glasswing Butterfly. Its wings have no color or scales, giving it a dreamy appearance. I like animals that can fly, especially those that are both beautiful and can fly. If I can get first place in the mid-term English exam this year, Dad said he'd take me to South America. But there's a girl in my class who seems to have some sort of cheat code for learning English; there's no way I can come first. Oh well, Qu Xizhi, thinking that getting first place will make Dad have time to take you to South America, you can just keep on dreaming.'
Flipping through Qu Xizhi's notebook, the pages were filled with graceful and adorable handwriting. After scanning a few pages, she heard footsteps approaching. Gu Xizhi quickly put the notebook down and looked up to see a cup of coffee in front of her. She hurriedly took it.
"Thank you, Aunt Yin."
"No one stopped you when you came in?" Yin Jun sat down opposite her. "
"Yes." Gu Xizhi put down her coffee and said uneasily, "Actually, I called Mr. Chen, and he said I wouldn't be stopped."
"I remember when you left, I told you that if you had any difficulties, you could ask Xiao Chen for help, but he can only help you three times."
Sipping her coffee lightly and leaning back on the sofa, "How many times is this?"
"The third time." Looking at Yin Jun, she added, "The first time was when I had a conflict with a singer in Japan, the second time was when I met a reliable private investigator through him, and this is the third time.
"It seems like you really want to see me." Yin Jun held a cup of coffee and looked at her with a half-smile, "Tell me what's going on?"
Gu Xizhi pondered for a while before facing her with firm eyes, "I want to see Qu Xizhi.
"She has a bad heart. If you go, you will only make her condition worse. Besides, Shen Ya is taking care of her. What are you going to accomplish by going?"
Gu Xizhi said awkwardly: "She doesn't like Shen Ya, you shouldn't let them be together, otherwise she will only become more and more unhappy."
"It wasn't me who made them be together." Yin Jun smiled and looked at her. "It was her own choice not to have any objections to this marriage. With her personality, do you think I could force her into marriage?"
Gu Xizhi suddenly seemed unable to refute and stared at her blankly without speaking.
Yin Jun continued, "I knew about the incident on Christmas Eve when you were planning to meet Qu Xizhi. But it's a pity that things happened later. "Now Shen Ya is engaged to her, and your matters are for you to resolve."
Gu Xizhi felt a bit disheartened, "I know the engagement is not a joke, and I also know that you both are important figures. If..."
Yin Jun interrupted her, "Your matters are for you to resolve, Xiao Gu, understand?"
Gu Xizhi stared blankly at Yin Jun, seeing that she didn't look scary and seemed to have suddenly thought of something. She quickly stood up and bowed to her, "Aunt Yin, thank you."
Yin Jun smiled again, "See you later."
A sports car pulled out of Qu's residence and gradually drove into the congested city streets. Gu Xizhi, sitting in the driver's seat, dialed a number from her phone's contact list after flipping through it for a long time, "Check Qu Xizhi's hospital, hurry."
The city night sky had no stars or moon, and the dry cold wind left everyone returning in a state of disarray.
On the thirteenth floor of the hospital, Gu Xizhi, wearing a black cashmere coat and a mask, knocked on the door of the nurse's station, "Excuse me, can you unlock the outer door of the first room on the left?"
"I'm sorry, miss," the young nurse quickly said, "There's only one patient in that ward, and she needs rest. Her family has instructed not to let her see anyone."
"But I can hear a man's voice."
"Are you talking about her fiancé?" The nurse smiled, "That's different."
The phone rang at this time. Gu Xizhi watched the nurse finish answering the phone, take the access card, go out and close the door, and then retreat to the corridor to the side.
At nine o'clock in the evening, the entire ward was extremely quiet, and those who happened to pass by would walk very lightly.
Five minutes later, a nurse hurriedly opened the door of the station, made a phone call, and then hurriedly left. Gu Xizhi stood in the corridor, watching her come and go, and after a while, her gaze gradually fell on the door that hadn't been locked by the nurse.
After glancing back and forth in the corridor, Gu Xizhi, without hesitation, entered the nurse's station, found the door control system, and unlocked all the doors. She then walked out of the station and headed to Qu Xizhi's ward area. As expected, this time, the electronic door opened when she pulled it.
As Gu Xizhi approached the ward, Shen Ya's voice became clearer. She stood outside the door for a moment, unsure whether she should turn the doorknob.
Inside the room, Shen Ya sat on Qu Xizhi's hospital bed, holding a book in one hand. His melodious voice narrated the story, sounding like a radio announcer greeting the city every morning.
"The little white rabbit said, 'My ears have gone deaf, so I won't be able to hear you all say bad things about the big bad wolf anymore. But the big bad wolf will write his love for me to read. In the future, I will only know the good things about the big bad wolf and not the bad.'"
"Mother rabbit hurriedly said, 'Child, don't do it. The big gray wolf is deceiving you!'"
"After saying this, the little white rabbit had already cut off its own ears."
The door opened with a clatter, and Shen Ya's voice stopped immediately. Gu Xizhi looked at Shen Ya, who was looking at her, and then at the person on the hospital bed, feeling momentarily stunned.
Qu Xizhi, with her eyes covered by a blindfold, lay half-reclined on the bed, and even when someone entered the room, she remained silent and made no other movements.
Shen Ya put down the book, "It's the nurse here to register room information. We can continue."
Qu Xizhi remained silent.
The peculiar scene kept Gu Xizhi standing at the door for a while. Shen Ya picked up the book and continued reading.
"The little white rabbit, when cutting off its ears, the mother rabbit..."
The sound of the door being knocked interrupted him. Shen Ya turned to look at Gu Xizhi, who gestured toward herself and then at Qu Xizhi, "I'll step out for a moment, and I'll be right back."
Qu Xizhi still didn't say anything.
Shen Ya turned and walked toward the door, and as she closed it, she gestured to Gu Xizhi to stay away.
When they reached the window, Gu Xizhi spoke first, "Mr. Shen Ya, I'd like to have a private conversation with Qu Xizhi. Could you please step aside?"
Shen Ya was polite, but his answer wasn't favorable, "It's not that I'm trying to make things difficult for you, but she's my fiancée, and since you're the one who brought her to this state, I don't feel comfortable with you being near her."
Gu Xizhi immediately said, "It's useless if you don't agree, I'm already here."
Shen Ya looked at her for a moment and contemplated, "Actually, your staying here won't make a difference. From the moment she woke up until now, she hasn't spoken to anyone, and now she's infected with acute contagious conjunctivitis. Only the doctor can see her, and no one can tell what she's thinking from her eyes. You can talk all you want, but it's like playing piano to a cow."
Gu Xizhi seemed completely undeterred and said, "In any case, I want to have a few words with her. Mr. Shen Ya, I think none of us want to see her unhappy."
Shen Ya remained silent for a moment, then nodded gently, "I'll come back to see her in ten minutes, but this is the only time."
Gu Xizhi even forgot to thank him, and without saying a word, she walked to the ward.
When she opened the door of the ward, Qu Xizhi was still half lying on the bed, uncertain if she was awake, Gu Xizhi closed the door and came to her bedside. At first, she had a lot to say, but when the words came to her lips, she changed her mind because of her dead silence.
Her hands rested outside the quilt and her long, manicured nails, probably prepared for the engagement ceremony, were strikingly red against the white sheet.
Gu Xizhi looked at her hand for a while, then slowly held it, attempting to tuck it under the quilt. However, this action only progressed to the first step before Qu Xizhi withdrew her hand, lowering the bed and covering the quilt over herself. Gu Xizhi stared at her lying under the covers for a while, then finally asked, "You know it's me?"
Naturally, there was no response. Qu Xizhi lay flat on the bed, facing the ceiling, and her covered eyes made it impossible to discern her emotions.
Gu Xizhi looked at her for a while, not willing to be treated indifferently. She reached for her hand again, but this time, she held it very tightly. "Are you determined not to have me? Otherwise, Shen Ya wouldn't trust me to come in, right?"
Still, there was no response, and the hand she held this time didn't even bother to struggle.
Gu Xizhi said in frustration, "I've been really worried about you these past few days. Your mother has hidden you away, not allowing me to see you. It took a lot of effort for me to get here. Can you at least say something to me?"
The silence was like stagnant water, suffocating as it spread.
Gu Xizhi waited for a long time without seeing any movement from her, then nodded slightly, "In this case, I'll wait here until you are willing to speak. "
Time passed by, and the agreed-upon ten minutes quickly came to an end. When Shen Ya pushed the door open, he saw Gu Xizhi sitting by the bedside, holding Qu Xizhi's hand. He was slightly taken aback but soon knocked on the door, saying, "It's getting late, and she needs to rest now."
Gu Xizhi's face was expressionless, "I won't leave."
As if she didn't hear anything.
Shen Ya said again, "If you insist on this, please excuse my rudeness."
Ten minutes later, two men in black suits appeared in the ward, Shen Ya brought the two of them to the bed and said in a slightly warning tone, "Miss Gu, let me tell you for the last time that the person lying in front of you is already my fiancée, she needs to rest now, please leave immediately."
Gu Xizhi didn't even raise her head, she just silently tightened her hold on Qu Xizhi's hand, her thin lips pursed slightly, looking a little solemn.
Shen Ya glanced at the two men in suits, one of them picked up a thin whip, gestured for a while, and then whipped it towards Gu Xizhi's hand.
The whip made a whooshing sound through the air, and immediately, Gu Xizhi's hands' backs stung with fiery pain. She flinched for a moment, then quickly looked at Shen Ya.
Shen Ya remained expressionless, somewhat unmoved.
Gu Xizhi nodded, "The whipping is worth it. I thank you for voluntarily withdrawing. You don't understand her at all."
Shen Ya looked at Qu Xizhi, seeing that she still didn't move, he gave the two men in suits a look to signal them to retreat.
After the men in the suit walked away, Shen Ya came to Qu Xizhi's bed, Looking at Gu Xizhi said, "You overthink, no matter how much she dislikes me, I'd still be better than you. You're the one who doesn't understand her, she's long been hopeless about you."
Gu Xizhi turned her head and didn't look at him, "I'm not leaving here anyway."
"Then let yourself understand that this is useless."
He faced Qu Xizhi and said "I'm going back first, I'll see you again tomorrow morning, take a good rest and if you have any problems, call someone anytime. They're right outside the door."
Without any suspense, no sound was made in response.
The light brightened for a moment, then quickly dimmed. After the door closed, Gu Xizhi held Qu Xizhi's hand more tightly, with her voice timid yet firm, "I heard and understood everything you said that day, I have something to say, but it is not the right time, I will not fail you for the time you have waited for. I am also willing to endure the suffering you have suffered."
No one replied, in the hospital room, one heart was like the clear autumn sky over the sea, and the other heart was like rusted iron.
